~~~
In the summer of 2020, after my father died by suicide, I rowed a 7-meter boat from California to Hawaii. 2,700 miles, all alone, for 71 days.
I wasn’t a rower. I had never even been out to sea.
But I had a mission - to share my story, inspire others, and raise funds for education. I called this mission the United World Challenge.
I returned home so moved by this experience, and I realized there’s so much more we can do together.
That’s why in December 2023, I got back in my boat to cross the rest of the Pacific Ocean by rowing 5,000 miles from Hawaii to Australia.
Over the following 126 days I became the first person ever to row from Hawaii to Australia solo and nonstop. For 4 months, I shared the journey live with followers near and far (ok, mostly just far) to raise funds to help solve ocean plastic.
Now together with our partners, Sungai Watch, we're using the funds from this campaign to build river barriers that stop plastic before it flows to sea. We're starting in Indonesia, the world's fourth largest ocean plastic polluter.
We will soon have 13 barriers in operation. Will you help us install even more?
